In the run up to the release of their debut single, "You & Me", on the 29th of October, One Night Only hit the road this week for a HUGE UK tour, playing dates with The Rifles, and The Pigeon Dectectives, as well as a few headline shows of their own. The band have teamed up with Screaming Tarts to keep this exclusive tour diary...

The Pigeon Detectives UK Tour - Part 2

Hey everybody!

Blog time with Jack again...and first off, a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who bought copies of You and Me in it's first week! We were amazed to see how many of you got it and sent us comments to tell us you were liking it...it really meant a lot to us, so thank you! Also, hopefully you caught our TV appearances over the past week or so as well, on Sound on BBC2 and Transmission with T-Mobile on Channel 4...both were really good days, if you missed them, do keep an eye on our MySpace for links to the shows.

So, welcome to the second leg of The Pigeon Detectives UK Tour blog with ONO! We've just said goodbye to another week of frantic fun and frivolity...a busy, busy week it was! More TV, more bus fun, more...gigs? But then again a tour without gigs wouldn't be a tour really would it. Not to worry! So, on to where we left off...

Oct 25th - Newcastle University

A massive crowd at the gig tonight. It was a bit intimidating standing on the stage and looking out to just a flat floor rammed with people! We rose to the occasion though and had an amazing gig...can't wait to come back! It was great to see some friends down at the gig too...a lot of our friends went to uni there so it was good to see them again! Of course, an aftershow party followed...oh dear. Deary me. Hmm...

Oct 26th - Vivaz, Scarborough

A return home for us! For those of you that knew us years and years ago, you'll know that we played Vivaz a few times as part of our old gigging circuit, so to come back was weird and a lot of fun! It was good to see some familiar faces down that night, and of course, a night in our own beds was lovely! (My god, I haven't ever said lovely out of choice. Interesting.)

Oct 28th - Manchester Academy

BIG venue. We'd been in Manchester not very long before and had a great night so we had high hopes for tonight...especially as we knew the single was coming out the day after. Oh how you rose to the occasion Manchester! We had a brilliant night, what a crowd! It was great to see you singing along to You and Me, so thank you! Can't wait to come back in December...

Oct 29th - Southbank Skate Park, London (BBC2 Sound gig)

A quick trip down to London to film a live performance of You and Me for BBC2's Sound...and the single came out! A great day for all of us, the champagne was really rather good on the bus that night...

To watch again click here.

Oct 30th - Fibbers, York - YOU AND ME SINGLE LAUNCH PARTY!

So, home! Big day for us today, playing our favourite venue to launch our single. It was the most amazing night...what can I say, we love you guys!!! We hope you liked your t-shirts...

Oct 31st - Liverpool Carling Academy 1

We've played in the Carling Academy 2 a couple of times now on tours with The Enemy and Milburn, so to move upstairs to the big venue was exciting for us, and we really enjoyed the gig, great crowd, thanks!

Nov 2nd - The Embassy, Skegness

Another big venue tonight, and once we got over trying to compete with the bingo caller's mic over the road, it was a really good gig! We hope to come back very soon...

Nov 3rd - Sheffield University

We played in the Octagon at Sheffield Uni tonight...a gig closer to home meant the crowd were great again tonight...see you at The Leadmill in December!

Nov 4th - The Cresset, Peterborough

A converted leisure center was the setting for tonight's gig...and it was really good! Nice to see our friends from FenechSoler there too...a great night for Bash antics in the back lounge. Don't give him Stella Artois folks. Looopy!

Nov 5th - The Waterfront, Norwich

Last night was a good gig...but we've got to say Norwich, when we come back...dance!! We're all about the move busting and all that jazz...just get involved and we'll have a good night...cool? Thanks for being an appreciative crowd though, love you really Norwich!

Nov 6th - Rock City, Nottingham

Wow! Quite a welcome you gave us that night Nottingham! Really energetic night, and it was great to see some mates there too. Thank you!

Nov 7th - Album Photo Shoot, London

That's right, a photo shoot for our ALBUM! And that's all I'm saying. So just be excited and leave me alone. ^_^

Nov 8th - Central Station, Wrexham, Wales

So onto the Welsh leg of the tour, starting in Wrexham...we were very late getting there on the bus from London, so it was all a bit rushed, but Wales welcomed us with open arms and had a good sing along to You and Me, so it was all good in the end!

Which brings us to today, the Students Union at Bangor University...do keep an eye on everything ONO for all the latest, (MySpace, Official and Facebook) and I'll be back with another blog very soon.

Have a great day!

One Night Only - The Pigeon Detectives UK Tour - Part One

Welcome to The Pigeon Detectives UK tour!
Jack from ONO here, giving you a quick update on how it's going with the guys, and some stuff we've been doing ourselves...

Oct 15th - The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, SCOTLAND
So, day one of the tour! New home for 6 weeks, new friends, new places. All very exciting you think? Well...you're completely right to be brutally honest! The new home; a big blue double decker tour bus. Pretty damn cool. It's ace on here, two lounges, a kitchen, toilet (hmm.) and 12 beds...we're sharing our bus with The Wallbirds, the other support band on the Pigeons tour. So it's really good on here! Having slept through the journey from our rehearsal studios in York to Aberdeen overnight, travelling is no longer a nasty thing. In fact it's more like a big rolling party! Doesn't do your sleeping patterns any good though. So we arrive at the venue and are ?introduced to The Pigeon Detectives and immediately we all start talking about the tour and the weeks ahead...they are all great guys! The gig that night; again we suffered a bit of the old first night on tour syndrome...so the gig was a bit like hard work but we really enjoyed it, the Scottish crouds were great as ever and a good night was had by all! George wasn't feeling 100% at the end of the night however, which would lead to problems tomorrow...

Oct 16th - The Raigmore, Inverness, SCOTLAND
So having the night before as the first proper night on tour partying...a late wake up was in order this morning. Only to wake up in a motel in Inverness. Interesting you might think. As did we. Surely this wasn't the setting for a major UK tour venue? Oh but it was. And George was feeling very ill, coughing left right and centre. So the option was taken to relax on the bus during the day in the hope George would be feeling better later. In the meantime the others used our day rooms (Day Rooms - A room booked for the band during the day so they can shower, seeing as there are no showers on the bus, clear?) to get a wash and freshen up for tonight. An amusing chapter came about later in the day when Rob and I went to get food for everyone from the supermarket...although upon seeing the amount of shopping bags, went on to steal the ?trolley and wheel it 20mins through Inverness to the bus. Oh the mucky looks we got! A stroke of genius in my opinion. Because George was so ill this evening, we pulled the gig...to the ?dissapointment of the crowd. We're really sorry we had to do this, we'll make it up to you Inverness!

Oct 17th - BBC2 Filming, Helmsley/Ryedale School/York, ENGLAND
Wait a second...home?! Yeah, thats right...overnight we did the however many hundreds of miles back to our homeland to do some work with BBC2 for a new show called 'Sound.' We had a great time going back to Ryedale and seeing some familiar faces, it was a nice day! If you missed the show we'll have a copy of it on the One Night Only YouTube Channel in the next few weeks!

Oct 18th - Fat Sam's, Dundee, SCOTLAND
Before I continue, no, we're not taking the piss. We went back to Scotland that night. Anyway...back when we toured with Milburn earlier in the year, we came across this venue before, it's amazingly big and all over the place...but we love it! The crowd that night were ?mental, we had a great time! The aftershow didn't last that long that night, we needed an early night that night...

Oct 19th - Transmission with T-Mobile Filming, Southampton QE2 Dock, ENGLAND
No seriously. Wait till you hear where we go the day after. Ok so the early was much needed for waking up at 7am this morning to fly from Edinburgh to Southampton to play our first live TV show with Transmission on 4. It looked a-mazing. Coming on Channel 4 November 2nd. Can't say much more for now...

Oct 20th - Village Hall, Ullapool, SCOTLAND
?Ok ok yes, we went from the very bottom of England to the very very top of Scotland. Yay. So up at 7am again this morning to fly back to Edinburgh, get back on the bus and get driving right up to the village of Ullapool. A village hall, and the whole village coming out to watch, it was special...especially when the power cut halfway through Start Over. Interesting theory, running the entire thing off two plugs...not to worry! It was amazing to see Hannah and Pam there, two of our mates from North Yorkshire...serious dedication going on there!

Oct 21st - The Arches, Glasgow, SCOTLAND
A long journey overnight to Glasgow where we would play tonight. It was an interesting gig tonight...the venue was very long, so the crowd ended up about 5 meters away from the band. Not sure why, but we didn't like the distance! It was a good night though, and afterwards we headed down to the Barfly to catch our good friends Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong play with Babyshambles. Great stuff.

Oct 22nd - XFM's Manchester In The City - with The Wombats/The Courteeners
?The Roadhouse, Manchester, ENGLAND

A night away from the Pigeons tonight as we head to Manchester to play with The Wombats as part of In The City. A great gig for everyone, thanks!
We'll be coming back to The Roadhouse as part of our HEADLINE TOUR in December! More info later.

Oct 23rd - Orange Promo Event, Hilton Metropole, London, ENGLAND
A return to London today to do some promotional work with Orange. It was only an acoustic session, but we thought some free phones might be coming our way?! Erm...it would appear not sadly. Nevermind...

Oct 24th - The Studio, Durham, ENGLAND
Back with the Pigeons...at an unreally small, stair riddled venue. I apologize profusely to our crew for putting you through that last night. Dark times. Good gig though!

One Night Only - The Rifles Tour

Hey everybody!

Jack from ONO here...sat on a rather cosy sofa in a hotel in Glasgow! So this is the One Night Only blog, where we'll be keeping you up to date with all things ONO while we're on the road. Bearing in mind I'm very, very tired...so I hope this all makes sense! Here goes...

So, tonight will be day 5 of our tour with The Rifles, and it's been going really well. We started just under a week ago in Northampton at the Soundhaus...it was our first time out with our new guitar tech, Bash...who is really cool. He's done some amazing bands in his career and it's awesome to have him with us. Northampton was a good gig, first gigs on tour are always a bit weird for everyone but we all had fun and played well.

Day two was The Brook in Southampton. Bit like a pub...Southamptoners are metalists as well we've decided. Lots of shouting and whatnot. Always nice!

Day three...oh excuse me a moment. The hotel lobby is pumping out less than desirable 90's pop...there we go, iPod is on. Ok, day three was our trip to London and a day off for us all, which was really nice. When we're in London we stay at our favourite hotel there, the K West. It was cool to just chill out there for a bit! In the afternoon we went out into London to buy some stuff for our new video, which I'll get onto later...

Day four was one of our biggest gigs to date, Shepherd's Bush Empire. The day was spent relaxing (apart from me and our manager Jamie who had a frantic going on trying to buy tickets for our guests that evening)...then after a quick interview with George and Mark we went down to the venue. We had an amazing night that night, the crowd were great and everyone had loads of fun!

The morning after we set off to Sheffield...ab-so-lute nightmare. It took us 6hours because of the traffic and we couldn't stop because we were so late, so none of us ate all day. Some frayed nerves all round I think! It was a good gig though...until it came to leaving...

We left straight after the gig and travelled through the night to Glasgow, and we arrived here at 4am. Hence my tiredness! We're playing QMU tonight, so hopefully we'll see some friendly faces there!

In other news, there's lots going on ONO-wise elsewhere, after The Rifles tour we'll be shooting the video for our next single, all very exciting!! Not sure I can tell you what it is yet, but the minute I can, I'll let you know.

After that we're heading out on a 5week tour with The Pigeon Detectives, which we're really excited about! Tourbus! We're really looking forward to meeting the guys too, it should be really good fun.

Then after that comes our single on the 29th October, which I hope you've all preordered! If not, don't worry, I'll post all the details of where and what to do at the end of this blog.

Anyway, hope that's been a good enough update for you all! I'll keep coming back every few days to let you know what the vibe is, but for now, I guess it's goodbye...

See you all soon!

Jack ONO
